Sell Used Magazines At Auction

Collecting and selling used magazines at auction can be a great product line to add to your online sales. I have sold many at prices from $10 - $40 each!

The trick is to get them cheap! You can usually find them at garage sales and thrift stores for as low as 10 cents each! The older, the better is the general rule.

Some magazines to keep your eyes open for:

70s & early 80s computer and video game related. These have a very highly collectible. If you happen to find a magazine that isn't computer or video game related but has a good article on them then it will sell too. These magazines are easy to sell from $5 to $20. Be sure to take pictures of the best articles, and list not only the articles in your auction but a list of the main advertisments as well.

50s & 60s mechanix and popular science. The way to sell these is to flip through them and pick out a major article that has relevence to today. I can think of a 60s popular Mechanix that had an article on a 'Snow Surfboard' In the auction listing title I mentioned 'snowboarder interest' That issue had about 5 bidders fighting over it, and finished at $38!

Old magazines with articles on famous people are great sellers. Elvis, JFK, various presidents etc.

RCMP, Police, gun related, toy related these are all good topics to look out for.

If you happen to come across old magazines that dont have covers, don't just throw them out! Go through them and cut out the advertisements! Some you will be able to just sell individual ads for items like toys from the 50s and 60s. Other ads group together in lots ie cigar, liquire fashion etc. You can sell these lots easily. If you sell collectibles, you can also just include these as free bonuses and to help sweeten the deal on related items. They will ad value to what you are selling especially if you have competition for the same item
